Portrait of a monastic master
This master of sturdy stature sits in the diamond posture, wrapped in his heavy brocade cloak. His hands rest in his lap in the gesture of contemplation. He is dressed in the triple monastic robes, his head is shaven and he is barefoot. This statue is practically identical with the previous (ABS 222), with the exception of the position of the hands. Both silver portraits most certainly were part of the same ensemble.
Because of his stature and general appearance, he is reminiscent of certain portraits of the master Pakmodrupa Dorje Gyalpo (1110-1170), one of the main figures of the Kagyü tradition.
