This bowl made of gilded copper is decorated with a series of engraved ornaments represented on the outer rim. A motif of elaborate lotus petals is placed around the circular base of the bowl. Above them are vegetal scrolls and lotus flowers supporting the “seven jewels.” These symbols inherited from the Chinese art tradition gathers various objects among which round and square earrings, a rhino horn, elephant tusks, a triple gem, crossed jewels and a branch of coral. This object perfectly illustrates the synthesis between the Nepalese, Tibetan and Chinese traditions.
