Hollow cast in one piece.
The monastic garment is decorated with chased floral and linear patterns.
The bottom of the pedestal has a broad rim with the center section sealed with a copper plate.
The unidentified monk with facial expressions of a portrait like nature is seated in an unconventional attitude on a double lotus and holds in the hands outstretched in the front a manuscript. He is clad with a voluminous array of monastic garments (tricivara).
The fact that the monk is seated on a lotus pedestal is an indication that this image was likely cast after he had deceased, whereas images of monks made during their life-time are usually either depicted on cushion or in the case of early images sometimes rendered without any pedestal at all.
